James Norquay

James founded Prosperity Media in 2012 after working in SEO, digital PR, and content marketing since 2005 across the Australian and US markets. He cut his teeth building his own network of content websites that generated over 25 million organic visits before being acquired, James then moved into enterprise consulting for brands including Virgin Mobile, Optus, David Jones, Woolworths, and Citibank. Today, he leads strategy for ASX 200 and large-scale clients across banking, insurance, retail, and healthcare, and under his leadership, the agency has been awarded Best SEO Agency in Australia by Semrush and Best Large SEO Agency in APAC for 2025. James is one of the most recognisable voices in Australian search, having spoken at more than 65 events worldwide, and he also founded and runs the Sydney SEO Conference, Australia’s largest SEO conference.

James practises what he preaches: he still owns and runs his own test websites, using them as a live lab for algorithm updates and new tactics before they ever reach a client strategy. He’s also a long-time community builder, running the Sydney SEO Conference & Online Marketing Sydney meetup group, and is a regular podcast guest who genuinely enjoys talking shop.
